Read moreMeemure is an ancient, isolated paradise belonging to the Kandy district, the heart of Sri Lanka. Let’s take a tour around paradise, shall we? Meemure is a breathtaking village located 324m above sea level. One of the famous hiking spots, Lakegala (a 1314m peak) is situated to the east of this village, while the Knuckles mountain range is located to the west. To the north of Meemure, Narangamuwa village is located and to the south, the 'Heenganga' river flows with pure water, contributing to the livelihood of the village and its surroundings. Meemure is well nourished by water with the evergreen rain forest in the Knuckles, where many waterfalls were born. Meemure receives the most rain during the north-east monsoon from October to February. We can expect showers during the months of April and May as well. It rains here in Meemure from February to September, but can say, that period is ideal for our programs. Furthermore, heavy winds can be expected in July, August, and September.
